Jiří Levíček is a pianist, composer, and teacher, born in Brno, Czech Republic.

After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree at Janacek Academy of Music in Brno, he moved to the USA for further studies. At the University of North Texas he received an Artist Diploma and Master’s Degree in piano performance and composition.

Since then, he has been composing for many different ensembles (including chamber groups, big bands, and symphony orchestras).

He has performed in North and South America, Canada, China, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and various countries throughout Europe. In 2012 he premiered his Piano Concerto with the Brno Philharmonics. That same year he joined the Robert Balzar Trio and collaborated with singer Dan Barta. With this group he recorded two CDs and one DVD. In 2018, Jiri composed a musical based on the book “Klapzubova jedenactka”, written by the Czech author Eduard Bass.

After 8 years in the United States, he moved back to the Czech Republic, where he currently teaches at the Janacek Academy Of Music in Brno, Jezek Conservatory in Prague, and occasionally teaches some spring courses at New York University’s Prague campus. He has been actively performing in the Czech jazz scene and participating in many different projects, such as organizing duo concerts with many different local jazz musicians (David Doruzka, Jiri Slavik, Marcel Barta, Kamil Slezak, Rasto Uhrik, and others). He also participated in several classical concerts with his wife, mezzo-soprano Chaazi Levicek, whom he also accompanied on her Prague Spring Festival recital in 2016.
