Jan Andr has been involved in music since he was six years old, when he started studying the basics of playing the piano. From 2002, he studied at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory in Prague, where four years later he continued his studies at the jezz department. His piano teachers and jazz mentors were pianists Karel Růžička and Jiří Nedoma or guitarist David Dorůžka.

He has been active on the Prague music scene since 2004 and thus had the opportunity to perform with ensembles of various musical genres from jazz to bossa nova to gospel. Over the years, he collaborated with with the Yvonne Sanchez band, the Czech Radio Big Band, the National Theater Orchestra, the Prague Big Band under the direction of Milan Svoboda In 2010 he participated in a European tour with the European Jazz Orchestra.

In the years 2008 - 2016, he taught jazz interpretation at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory in Prague, and currently teaches jazz piano at ZUŠ Štefánikova in Prague. In addition to the piano, he also plays the Hammond organ.

In recent years he collaborated, for example, with the Prague modern gospel choir Gospel Limited, singer Tonya Graves, Libor Šmoldas and his Organ Trio, singer Boris Carloff.

Since 2018, he has been mainly dedicated to authoring for his own project The Track Inspection. From 2021, he collaborates with singers Jan Smigmator or Vojtěch Dyk and his project D.Y.K. .
